I love my Mum. She is a fantastic person. There are many reasons for this but one of them is knowing what’ll think before I do. Well on some points anyway.
My Mum understands about voices, you see. When everything was about Blue Eyes for me at school, I swear my Mother enjoyed answering the phone to him, almost as much as me. And men with VOICES (and I do capitalise necessarily) do tend to get to me, and Mum will notice in a flash.
Mum is talented in recognising voices and it is for this reason I would like to make an internet apology to this wonderful, fabulous woman. For all the times I have said ‘Oh Muuuuum he’s my x, y, z…it’s not like that!’ I apologise sincerely and completely.
He does have a good voice, Mum, and you were right, it is exactly like that.
This reminds me of that episode of Black Books where Fran becomes obsessed with the shipping forecast, voiced by Peter Serafinowicz (flatmate Pete in Shaun of the Dead, the voice of Darth Maul, the evil-girlfriend-stealing-bastard from Spaced and one of the guys from Hardware).
My personal favourite for the shipping forecast is always Charlotte Green. Alas she rarely reads it these days.
