I always suspect I should avoid these… but oh well here goes;

Post between 5 and 10 quotes which give you strength. They can be from songs, films, plays, tv shows, poems, books, whatever. Just those things that run through your head when you are really finding life a struggle, which get you through it.

1.
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

– Bene Gesserit; Litany Against Fear from Dune

2.
‘logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.’
‘Or the one.’
‘You are my friend. I have been and always shall be yours.’

– slightly mis-quoted Wrath of Khan dialogue between Kirk and Spock

3.
‘But, sooner or later, one of us must know
You just did what you’re supposed to do
Sooner or later, one of us must know
That I really did try to get close to you’

-Bob Dylan; One of Us Must Know

4.

‘She’s got everything she needs,
She’s an artist, she don’t look back…
She never stumbles,
She’s got no place to fall.’

-Bob Dylan; She Belongs To Me

5.

‘Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.’

-Dr. Seuss

6.

‘Because it’s there.’

– George Mallory

7.

‘If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And–which is more–you’ll be a Man, my son!’

-Rudyard Kipling; If

8.

‘We will walk through the fire
And let it Burn.’

-Buffy; The Musical

9.

“Alice laughed.

  1. "Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened."

…so so so relevant to so many things right now…

Thank you for posting this one. I’d never come across it before.

  2. "Muad’Dib learned rapidly because his first training was in how to learn. And the first lesson of all was the basic trust that he could learn. It’s shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult. Muad’Dib knew that every experience carries its lesson."

From "The Humanity of Muad’Dib" by the Princess Irulan
