Spiderlights

Just found out about Indra’s net… am even more wierded out by shared conciousness/subconciousness…something…

“Imagine a multidimensional spider’s web in the early morning covered with dew drops. And every dew drop contains the reflection of all the other dew drops. And, in each reflected dew drop, the reflections of all the other dew drops in that reflection. And so ad infinitum. That is the Buddhist conception of the universe in an image.” –Alan Watts

Woah. I mean, it’s not exactly spiderlights…but it sort of is…

  1. Nice and easy to tie in, actually. Fragments of a Hologram Rose, if I could borrow William Gibson for a moment…

  2. What intrigues me is why the Buddhists chose Indra, the Vedic god asociated with war and warriors. I mean, is this a purely Buddhist thing, or does it have general Indo-European overtones?

  3. I didn’t actually think it was a specific Buddhist thing to be honest (however I could well be wrong), I thought it was something used by several groups in India, which includes the more mystic end of Buddhism I’ll admit.
