Meme

I’m having a good day, I felt a little like I was drowning on Monday, posted a blog entry about it and was rewarded by having several life-vests thrown at me from a variety of directions.
Sure, I’m not suddenly entirely back to normal but I’m still swimming and afloat and with all you wonderful people I’ll get through this latest round of stuff.

I have also done a meme based on my roleplaying characters. Read on if you’re interested!

Step 1: List 10 of your characters.
Step 2: Answer these questions!
Step 3: Answer any questions you put to them 🙂

These are Tabletop (roleplaying involving sitting around a table and rolling dice) and Live (dressing up) characters. They are some characters from games I’ve played previously, some from games I am playing currently and one from a game I am about to play in. Iresisted the urge to fill up all ten slots with Unknown Armies characters with a shared background since that loses the point of the meme.

1. Suzanne O’Leary – Unknown Armies, a shy and social awkward historian who lives on an invisible el-train
2. Lisa Wesolowski – Vampires In Public, a focussed and money-oriented business woman
3. Nam L’au – Obsidian Arcana, a dishonoured Nun fanatically loyal to her god
4. Oishi Sakana – Farshores, a two-foot high alien princess who can’t speak a common tongue particularly well
5. Adelaide Dickins – Mage, a feminist mage from the nineteenth century who ended up running a hippy shop in this one
6. Judith Hanson – Unknown Armies, a lecturer in Women’s Studies who’s just been recruited by The New Inquisition in Maine, USA
7. Maeb Meadhouse – Mouseguard, a scientist mouse obsessed with contraception and clockwork
8. Holly Williams – Witchcraft, a teenage necromancer who’s exploring her powers
9. Q’Lina Thoth – Space 1889, a martian with an elephant gun and a bastard sword who enjoys using both of them
10. Ashleigh Wesley – Delta Green, a gun-nut Methodist orphan formerly of the Virginia Police and apparently an FBI agent

Four invites Three and Eight to dinner at their house. What happens?

Oishi, a small green-skinned alien princess has rather a nice house in the Imperial City last time I looked and is a social climber so invites a whole lot of different people to her house. Inviting a dishonoured cat-nun and a teenage necromancer is a little far out for her but not by much. It doesn’t help that Oishi doesn’t speak so that either of the other two can understand her. Nam L’au is probably quiet throughout and refuses to drink sake whereas Holly would having her mind blown even more than is normal and so probably drinks a lot more than she does usually. Holly passes out on the couch and Nam L’au carries her up to one of Oishi’s spare rooms before taking her leave. Oishi fusses over people and makes sure they have enough to eat and drink.

Nine tries to get Five to go to a strip club. How?

A large Martian warrior Q’Lina will either threaten Miss Dickins into it or promise to tell her things about Martian magic if she goes. Miss Dickins will be hugely embarrassed and loudly disapproving about everything in the club (and probably get them thrown out) and Q’Lina would be confused, humans just aren’t interesting naked.

You need to stay at a friend’s house for the night. Who do you choose, One or Six?

Six! Six! Judith’s practically normal just a bit overtly feminist. Suzanne would be awful, shy and nervous and pannicky.

Three falls in love with Six, Eight is jealous. What happens?

Three, Nam L’au the nun who is devoted to Ott never speaks of her love and spends her time doing penance for falling in love with somebody other than Ott. Six, Judith the feminist lesbian never finds out and continues to hang out with the nun preaching the cause of women being better than men. Holly has a huge teenage girl-crush and does slightly embarrassing things until it becomes obvious to Judith who has a sensible word or two with her to tell her to get over it. Holly has enough self-preservation instinct not to do anything to the warrior cat-nun.

Four jumps you in a dark alleyway. Who comes to your rescue, Ten, Two or Seven?

The two-foot green princess jumps me. Most of the rest of my characters can’t stop laughing, however ten, Ashleigh Wesley started out as a police officer and would come to make sure I was alright. Lisa would be too busy with her account book and though Maeb might try to help she’s a mouse and probably wouldn’t be that effective so she’d let Agent Wesley do her job.

One decides to start a cooking show. Fifteen minutes later, what is happening?

The Chinese deliveries keep coming. Her audience is dozing, put to sleep by her continual notemaking and excruciating detail of how long you can leave chinese leftovers in the fridge and how many minutes in the microwave they take!

Seven kidnaps Two and demands something from Five for Two’s release. What is it?

The small honourable mouseguard, Maeb kidnaps the rich vampire and then demands from the unsociable timetravelling mage from the order of hermes her Victorian pocket watch so that she can examine how clockwork actually works.

Everyone gangs up on Three, does Three have a chance in hell?

Yesish. Trained warrior nun vs. Suzanne O’Leary would take her easily unless on the El train in Chicago, vs. vampire not a problem, vs. two foot-high squishy princess easy, vs. fussy hermetic mage not a problem, vs. feminist lecturer no problem, vs. scientist mouse easy, vs. necromantic teenager not a problem, then comes a Martian Warrior and a Delta Green agent with a LOT of guns – problem.

Everyone is invited to Two and Ten’s wedding, except for Eight. How do they react?

Holly is oddly relieved as Lisa and Ashleigh keep telling her they’re very straight and are uncomfortable with this arrangement. Also Ashleigh keeps leaving the curtains open in Lisa’s bedroom…

Why is Six afraid of Seven?

Because Seven Eight Nine….? Sorry – because Judith is new to the Occult Underground and doesn’t feel comfortable around talking mice!

One arrives late for Two and Ten’s wedding. What happens and why were they late?

She forgot it was happening, in fact she’s only turned up because the venue is historically significant and she’s hoping to gain a charge from it.

Five and Nine get roaring drunk and end up in your house. What happens?

Q’Lina sets fire to parts of my house and trashes the place. Miss Dickins sits in a corner and starts singing really out of date songs. I call the police.

Nine murders Two’s best friend. What does Two do to get back at them?

Q’Lina probably did it on a whim. But without Geoffrey Lisa is an angry killing machine and will pay Arcady to have Q’Lina taken care of – painfully.

Six and One are in mortal danger, only one of them can survive. Does Six save himself or One?

Six probably tells TNI assuming that they might save her. TNI will probably save Suzanne as she’s more powerful. Judith will be confused and scared.

Two and Three go camping. For some reason they forget to bring any food. What do they do?

Lisa intends to drink from Nam L’au, Nam L’au will use her survivalist training to rustle up delicious noms from the wilderness and probably stake Lisa when she attempts to go vampire on her.

  1. Each of them is given one wish which they must use… for the good of the person beneath them on the list (10 chooses for 1). This wish will not be twisted and comes with no strings attached, and the characters are not allowed to consult with the beneficiary of the wish.

    What do they choose?

  2. 1. Suzanne O’Leary wishes that Lisa have the knowledge of all the train timetables in Britain from the invention of the train to the modern day. To be fair, Lisa probably loves this.
    2. Lisa Wesolowski wishes for Nam L’au to have a large amount of money, enough to buy a house. Nam L’au can’t actually posess money so the nunnery on the High C’Mell gains a sudden donation.
    3. Nam L’au wishes for Oishi Sakana to have complete understanding of Ott. Oishi recoils in horror and spends some weeks trying to get over this.
    4. Oishi Sakana wishes that Adelaide Dickins have whatever it is she truly wants…and Adelaide Dickins discovers she has a certain psammead trapped in her power. There may be torture, or just harsh words about the deliberate misinterpretation of wishes leading to timetravel.
    5. Adelaide Dickins wishes for Judith to truly appreciate the feminist advances of the last century, not a lot happens.
    6. Judith Hanson wishes that Maeb had some cheese, Maeb looks at her sideways and eats the cheese.
    7. Maeb Meadhouse wishes that Holly had a good understanding of contraception and maintained her sexual health properly. Holly discovers that the condoms in her purse have doubled in number.
    8. Holly Williams wishes that the scary Martian had her own spaceship so she could leave. Q’Lina Thoth heads off into space in said ship looking for a loophole in her worship of Jack Camden, so that she can kill him.
    9. Q’Lina Thoth wishes that Ashleigh had a double of her elephant gun. Ashleigh takes it out for a spin and has a great time with it.
    10. Ashleigh Wesley wishes that Suzanne met a man as great as her fiance, Phillip. Suzanne hides from him.
