I have always been a big fan of Pride and the thing is people who dislike it are often worrying that it ‘sends the wrong image’ – if we lived in a world where queerphobic attacks or any kind of queerphobia didn’t exist then yeah sure, maybe people just need a quiet life without thinking about other’s needs…
Nah. Fuck That Shit.
You have to be aware of other people. You have to see what’s happening in their lives because keeping quiet is what ends up in silence whilst injustice happens.
And Pride should be loud and colourful because that’s us.
Some Prides are getting expensive but honestly as long as they keep the Parade free I reckon that’s ok because we live in capitalism… obviously I’d rather like to change this system but not having Pride until we’ve reordered society just isn’t an option.
