I feel like I’m playing a horrific version of Good Thing Bad Thing lately.
I am considering leaving one of the games I play due to something happening which I consider beyond the pale. I’m waiting to see the organising team’s response and then I’ll work out if that’s a space I want to be in or not.
But the thing underlying this is my notion of can I trust the organisers or not. I suppose if I want to get deep its societal understanding. There are some actions that are bellwethers or I was brought up to believe they were. But then I guess I’m watching people just doing them in real time. In terms of the organisers of the game I’m watching them accurately reflect society and going back on banning people from the space for apologies that amount to “I’m sorry I didn’t know any better.” Whilst doing actions absolutely belying that.
One week it seems like I’m aligned with the rest of the world, the next it seems like I’m perpendicular to it. I’m in a weird pause state.
