I’ve been doing Duolingo six years now, six years and five languages. I took something of a break from the owl but I did keep up listening to podcasts in the same languages to try and embed the vocabulary. I think it’s the gamification of the owl that keeps me at it… well that and the ADHD. Turns out I can’t learn one language at once but bouncing between five makes me last six years.
Of course the problem of having no focus means that I’ve improved only a little, albeit in all of them. But at least I’m still going… I could do without the passive aggressive nature of Duo’s notes though. The damned owl is pretty unpleasant at times.
